Water levels on the River Severn are expected to rise further on Wednesday.

There are two severe ‘danger to life’ flood warnings in place at Shrewsbury and Ironbridge in Shropshire. In Shrewsbury, rising water levels have led to most lines closing at the station and the town’s three main shopping centres have been shut for safety reasons.

With more rain on the way, the Severn is expected to peak in Shrewsbury and Ironbridge on Tuesday evening, and Bridgnorth and Bewdley on Wednesday.
