'Tell the Prem to hurry up' - Takeover talk dominates as Newcastle fans react to new home kit

Newcastle United have unveiled their new Puma home kit for the 2020/21 season and confirmed the Magpies will wear it for the final home match of the season against Liverpool.

The design has reverted to thinner black-and-white stripes, and the logo of sponsors Fun88 remains emblazoned across the front.

The new home shirt will be available for purchase from Sunday, and has got the seal of approval from Magpies' forward Allan Saint-Maximin.

He told the club's website: "As the supporters will know, me and my kids enjoyed wearing last season’s kit a lot but the new shirt looks great and I am looking forward to wearing it for the very first time on Sunday.

“I hope supporters will enjoy it too and we can be together again in black and white soon.”

However, the club's announcement on social media drew a mixed response from fans.

Several noted the similarity to the 125th anniversary design from the 2017/18 season, while others were more positive in their assessments.

Unsurprisingly however, it was the ongoing uncertainty of the takeover saga which dominated the discussion.

This is how fans reacted to the club's announcement on social media on Thursday afternoon:

'Tell the Prem to hurry up'

'If the takeover gets approved'

'Short supply'

'Sorting the mess out'

'Real smart kit'

'Fantastic kit'

'20 seconds to design'

'They won't notice'
