Television twins Grichka and Igor Bogdanoff die of Covid just six days apart

France's most famous twins, the Bogdanoff brothers have both passed away after catching Coronavirus.

Grichka died of Covid-19 complications on 28 December and his brother, Igor died just six days later on Monday 3 January.

Neither of the siblings had been vaccinated and were rushed to hospital in December.

The Saint-Lary-born, Austrian-descended duo shot to fame in the late 1970s after hosting a successful sci-fi television series titled 'Temps X'.

They introduced several widely popular British and American series, including 'The Twilight Zone', 'The Prisoner', 'Star Trek', 'Battlestar Galactica', and 'Doctor Who', to the French public.

After several years in the television spotlight, the twins began making notable changes to their faces in the 1990s using plastic surgery.

They are now recognised worldwide for their extreme facial features including protruding chins and dramatically puffed-up lips and cheeks, having claimed in 2010: "We are proud of having faces like extra-terrestrials".

Following their sci-fi career, the Bogdanoffs turned their attention to academic physics, composing a handful of scientific journals centring on mathematics and theoretical physics.

According to a number of their close acquaintances, they firmly believed that their 'healthy lifestyle' would protect them from the virus, however, their lawyer Edouard de Lamaze confirmed that this was the cause of death.

Pierre-Jean Chalençon, who was a family friend of the 72-year-old pair, confirmed that the pair were not 'anti-vaxxers': "Several friends told them to get themselves vaccinated but they felt because of their lifestyle and their [lack of] comorbidity, they weren't at risk of Covid."

Another friend of the television twins and former Minister of National Education in France, Luc Ferry, also explained his understanding of their reasoning not to have received the Covid-19 vaccine.

He told Le Parisien newspaper, "Like Igor, Grichka wasn't antivax, he was just antivax for himself.

"They were both athletic, with not an inch of fat, and they thought the vaccine was more dangerous than the virus."

Igor Bogdanoff leaves behind six children, four from his first marriage and two from his second wife, Amelie de Bourbon-Parme.

Grinchka's private life remained majorly out of the spotlight, but he has no known relationships or children.
