Hattie Brett: joining the Telegraph from Bauer’s The Debrief

The Telegraph’s lifestyle chief Jane Bruton has hired the launch editor of female-focused website The Debrief, run by her former employer Bauer.

Bruton, who was editor-in-chief of Bauer’s Grazia for a decade, was named as Telegraph Media Group’s director of lifestyle and deputy editor in January.

She has hired Hattie Brett, the launch editor of the 18-month-old The Debrief, who was previously Graziadaily.co.uk launch editor and Grazia assistant editor.

The pair have a long association, with Brett the daughter of Nicholas Brett, who ran the BBC’s magazine portfolio when Bruton was hired to edit and relaunch Eve magazine.

Insiders at the Telegraph say there has been a flurry of hiring by Bruton since her arrival.

Last month, she appointed Harper’s Bazaar deputy editor Sasha Slater as head of magazines.

The former head of fashion, luxury and magazines was Michele Lavery.

Bauer confirmed Brett’s departure.
