HYDERABAD: Youth Congress members and its state president Shiva Sena Reddy were taken into police custody for trying to barge into Pragati Bhavan, the official residence-cum-camp office of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Referring to the suicide committed by unemployed youth A Mahesh in Mancherial, Shiva Sena Reddy termed it as a government murder. The Youth Congress members were demanding filling up of two lakhs government vacancies and release of monthly unemployment allowance without further delay.
"K Chandrasekhar Rao was able to become the chief minister of the new Telangana state mainly due to the sacrifices of their life by students and youth for the cause of statehood. But he has betrayed them by not filling up over 2 lakh vacancies. The suicides by the depressed lot of students and youth are continuing in Telangana," alleged Shiva Sena Reddy and city president M Rohith.
On one hand, the TRS government is not coming out with job notifications and on the other is not giving Rs 3016 monthly unemployment allowance chief minister KCR promised to the youth during 2018 assembly elections campaigning, said Shiva Sena Reddy.
He appealed to the youth not to resort to extreme steps and instead fight with the government to achieve jobs and other aspirations in the new state for which it was achieved.
The Youth Congress demanded Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia to the family members of Mahesh who committed suicide, that the government should come out with job notifications before inviting wine shop tenders next month, release Rs 3016 per month jobless allowance, failing which the Youth Congress would launch state-wide agitations.
