HYDERABAD: Accusing the TRS government of being one of the ‘most corrupt' regimes and also indulging in ‘appeasement politics', BJP president J P Nadda on Thursday said people's mood in Telangana is in favour of a change and to install a BJP government.
Addressing a public meeting at Mahabubnagar as part of state BJP chief and MP Bandi Sanjay's ongoing second phase of 'Praja Sangrama Yatra', Nadda said people want a "double engine" BJP government in the state with the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take Telangana forward.
Alleging that the TRS government followed "policy of appeasement", Nadda said the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi should be renamed ‘Telangana Razakar Samithi'. Sounding the poll bugle for the 2023 assembly elections, the BJP chief said Telangana yearns for a change and the massive turnout of people at his rally in Mahbubnagar on Thursday showcased just that.
He said the TRS was in jitters following his party's resounding wins in Dubbak and Huzurabad assembly bypolls. "The CM has been shaken by these victories. Looking at this large gathering, I am confident that the BJP will flourish further in Telangana," he said.
In his brief speech, Nadda went ballistic against KCR alleging that the TRS regime is the most corrupt government in the country. "Bandi Sanjay is talking about irrigation projects in the state. The TRS is not interested in development and all the irrigation projects are turning out to be ATMs for them (TRS leaders)," he said.
Nadda reaffirmed the slogan of double-engine government for the double benefit of people, saying that "when the wrong government is ruling locally, you (people) are denied the assistance of progressive programmes and schemes of the Centre."
Claiming that a large number of people could attend his meeting because of free Covid-19 vaccine provided to them by Modi-led NDA government, Nadda said: "When the Centre imposed lockdown during the pandemic, KCR ridiculed Covid-19 protocols in the assembly, but he got Bandi Sanjay arrested under the pretext of the same Covid-19 protocols."
He said PM Modi has special concern for Telangana. "Cotton MSP was increased to more than Rs 10,000 per quintal, Rs 4,000 crore was given for sheep and goat distribution. The PM wanted to provide Ayushman Bharat scheme, but 26 lakh families in Telangana were deprived of the benefits of the scheme because of the TRS government. Please vote for the BJP and for this scheme," Nadda added.
Later in the night, Nadda in a tweet, said: "Addressing the public meeting in Telangana, and witnessing this massive tide of people who came to show their faith in our party and Hon. PM @narendramodi Ji's vision, has convinced us all that Telangana yearns for change and for the BJP. Thank you for all the love and support (sic)."
