HYDERABAD: A 35-year-old woman allegedly pushed her two children into a lake before jumping into the waters at Kothapalli in Rajanna Sircilla district on Friday morning.
Police said the bodies of Hansika (5) and Abhigna (3) have been recovered while a search is on to trace their mother Rekha. Early in the morning, Rekha took her children to the lake.
When locals questioned as to what they were doing at the lake bund at that hour, she told them that she brought the children so that they will play. At 8 am, locals found the bodies of the children in the lake and alerted police. Cops soon contacted the family and found out that their mother was missing. Police suspect marital dispute may have driven Rekha to take the extreme step.
