Telangana: Two youngsters die in van-truck collision

HYDERABAD: Two youngsters died when their goods carrier van with a load of flowers crashed into a truck from the rear at Bibinagar in the early hours of Saturday.

The deceased were identified as B Anil, 19, of Asiya Thanda in Parvatagiri mandal of Warangal district, and Md Khaleel, 24, of Mahadevpur mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district. On Friday night, the victims drove to Gudimalkapur flower market and loaded the goods carrier with flowers.

The accident occurred at 5 am near Bibinagar en route to Warangal to deliver the flowers, Bibinagar sub-inspector (SI) K Saidulu said.

While Anil was driving the vehicle, Khaleel was sitting in the front seat. As they were travelling in the left lane of the road, a truck travelling ahead of them suddenly changed lanes and the victims’ van crashed into the truck from the rear.

Due to the high-speed collision, the front portion of the van got stuck under the truck. We used a crane to separate both the vehicles. The bodies of the victims remained stuck in the mangled van. We used gas cutters to remove the metal and shifted the bodies for postmortem. The entire process took over two hours,” the SI said.

A case was registered against the truck driver under Sections 304-a and 337 of the IPC. Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, who was passing by the road, stopped at the accident spot on Saturday morning and enquired with police about the accident.
