Telangana records 657 new Covid-19 cases, two deaths

HYDERABAD: Telangana recorded 657 new Covid-19 cases and 2 deaths on Tuesday even as the number of active cases in the state stood at 9,787.

The total count of cases since the beginning of the pandemic last year, stand at 6,38,030 and the death toll stands at 3,766.

The number of active containment zones in the state stood at 39. Currently there are no active micro containment zones are in Hyderabad while Mahabubabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Bhadadri Kothagudem having majority of the active containment zones in the state.

A total of 704 patients were declared recovered on Tuesday, taking the total count of recovered patients to 6,24,477. The case fatality rate (CFR) stands at 0.59 percent while the recovery rate has improved to 97.87 percent now. So far 79.8 percent of overall cases in the state have been asymptomatic while 20.2 percent have been symptomatic.

On Tuesday, 1,04,578 samples were tested for the novel coronavirus. Telangana has now completed testing 2.07 crore samples and has reached 5.57 lakh sample testing per million population.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) recorded 74 new cases on Tuesday, while neighbouring Medchal Malkajgiri recorded 27 cases, Ranga Reddy recorded 31 and Sanga Reddy recorded 6 cases. Outside of Hyderabad city and its outskirts, Jagtiyal, Khamman, Mancheriyal and Nalgonda saw more cases.
