Telangana: Rahul Gandhi to address public meet in Warangal on May 6

HYDERABAD: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will participate in a farmers' rally and address a public meeting 'Rythu Sangharshana Sabha' in Warangal on May 6.

On May 7, he would hold a meeting in Hyderabad with District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents and other important leaders and discuss the road map for the 2023 assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Rahul's visit assumes significance following internal surveys that Congress' electoral prospects have revived in Telangana. The rally and public meeting were aimed at exposing the political drama played by TRS and BJP over procurement of paddy, their failure to save farmers and assure the farming community that Congress would always stand by them.

This will be Rahul Gandhi's first visit to Telangana after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Also, it is all set to come close on the heels of his directions to the warring groups in the party to set aside their differences and work as a team to bring Congress to power in Telangana. On April 4, Rahul Gandhi had met Telangana leaders in Delhi and promised to give more time to the state.

TPCC president A Revanth Reddy said the Rythu Sangharshana Sabha would be organised at Arts College grounds in Warangal and appealed to the farmers, other sections of society and party cadres to attend to express their resentments against the TRS and BJP governments' anti-farmer policies.

AICC in charge of Telangana Manickam Tagore held a meeting with members of the political affairs committee (PAC) on Saturday. It was attended by AICC leader Bose Raju, TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy, MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy among others. The meeting discussed the strategy to make Rahul Gandhi's tour a success.

Revanth accused TRS and BJP governments of cheating farmers. "A scam of 3,000 crore in procurement of rice has taken place as eight lakh quintals of rice was not supplied to FCI although the money for it was paid to millers," he alleged.
