HYDERABAD: A driver died and 13 persons suffered injuries after a speeding car crashed into an RTC bus and both the vehicles slipped into a roadside pit on Wednesday near Manthani.
The incident happened on Wednesday morning when T Vineet was driving the four wheeler from Khansaipeta village to Manthani. When the car crossed Manthani at Gadudulagutta, Vineet lost control over the car when he suddenly noticed the bus coming from the opposite direction after taking a right turn.
"Vineet applied sudden brakes and the car turned right and after hitting the bus, fell off the road into a pit. In his attempt to avoid the car, the bus driver turned left and the bus also crashed into the pit," Manthani SI Chandrasekhar said.
The car was mangled in the crash and driver Vineet died on the spot. "There were 11 passengers in the bus. While nine passengers along with the bus driver and the conductor suffered simple injuries, two passengers suffered severe bleeding injuries. All the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment," the SI said.
Police registered a case under section 304-a (causing death due to rash or negligent act) and 337 (causing injuries due to rash or negligent act) of the IPC.
