HYDERABAD: A mango sapling will be planted in front of every house in Nagarkurnool district.
District collector L Sharman said it would be the responsibility of the family residing in the house to protect and nurture the plant.
Sharman said it was observed that there was not much greenery seen in villages and therefore he asked gram panchayats to plant fruit trees.
While ideally mango saplings have been suggested, other fruit saplings can also be planted.
Also, on either side of the thoroughfares, officials have been asked to plant three rows of saplings and fruit saplings should be among them.
The details of every fruit sapling planted will have to be provided to the district administration.
The planting of fruit saplings in front of houses in the villages will have to be completed in the next 10 days. The idea of planting saplings is also to provide birds with food.
