Telangana man on bike dies as manja slashes throat

HYDERABAD: A man riding a bike died after his throat got slashed by manja hanging from a tree in Mancherial on Saturday. Based on a complaint by his wife, a case was registered.

The deceased was identified as Bheemaiah, 39, a labourer from Old Mancherial Town.

The incident occurred when Bheemaiah along with his wife, Sharada, was travelling home after visiting a hospital in Mancherial on Saturday evening.

“My husband had cut his finger while he was working and we had gone to a doctor to get first-aid. After the doctor administered a tetanus injection, we went to a medical shop and bought medicines. While we were returning home on the moped, he suddenly stopped the vehicle after crossing the bridge. I saw that his neck was entangled in manja and he was bleeding from the throat,” Sharada said.

By the time Sharada removed the manja around his throat with help from other motorists, Bheemaiah had lost a lot of blood.

“Sharada shifted him to government hospital in an auto and he was declared brought dead,” Mancherial Town inspector B Narayana said.
