Telangana: Kin, farmhouse owner held for girl’s death

HYDERABAD: Following the death of a four-year-old girl at a farmhouse in Jinnaram on Wednesday after suffering a pellet injury, police on Thursday arrested the girl’s relative, a juvenile in conflict with law (JCL), and the farmhouse owner.

Sangareddy district police said that after questioning several persons, they found that it was the JCL (17) who while playing with the air gun allegedly pulled the trigger and the pellet hit Sanghavi, who is the daughter of farmhouse watchman R Nagaraju. The girl’s family resides in the farmhouse.

“The JCL was one of the few relatives of the girl who visited their house to attend a local religious festival. On seeing an air gun, which was left behind by farmhouse owner Prasad at the girl’s residence, the minor boy started playing with it and inserted a pellet before firing it,” district police said.

The girl succumbed on Wednesday while undergoing treatment in Osmania General Hospital.

Police found that she suffered the pellet injury from a close range and registered a case under IPC section of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Police said the JCL was traced in Shamirpet and Prasad was nabbed at his farmhouse. Prasad allegedly left the air gun with pellets in the residence of Nagaraju.
