HYDERABAD: The CBI was given three days by the Telangana high court on Friday to convey its stand on BJP Rajya Sabha MP Y Sujana Chowdary’s plea seeking permission to visit Europe and the US from June 30 to August 14.
The BJP MP is being probed by the CBI for fraud and loan evasions in companies such as Best and Crompton Engineering Projects. The CBI had got a lookout circular (LOC) issued against the former minister, preventing him from moving out of the country, as he had founded many of the companies. The MP, however, claimed his association with the companies being probed ended long ago.
The MP’s counsel found fault with CBI for not closing the LOC even after three years, making it difficult for him to go abroad. The CBI counsel said he has to first ascertain whether the petitioner violated any conditions during his past foreign trips.
