Telangana governor, Talasani Srinivas take part in Skandagiri temple ritual

SECUNDERABAD: The traditional ‘Swarnabandhana Kumbhabhishekham’ was performed at the Skandagiri Subramanya Swamy temple in Padmaraonagar here on Thursday. The rituals of ‘Pranapratishta’ (consecration of the deities) began on April 15 under the supervision of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham seer Vijayendra Saraswathi.

Interestingly, animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who has been attacking governor Tamilisai Soundararajan over the protocol issue and comments made against CM K Chandrasekhar Rao by the latter, received blessings from the seer along with the governor who was also blessed by him.

Kumbhabishekam is a ritual in which the crown (kumbhashikhara) and dwajasthabham of temple are sanctified (abhishekham) with spiritually charged water.

The ritual is done to consecrate new shrines or to re-consecrate existing shrines after renovations or every 12 years. ‘Punaruddharana Mahakumbhabhishekham’ was done periodically in the temple and the most recent one was done in April 2002.

The sacred water was brought from 12 major rivers across the state. Nearly 160 Vedic priests from Tamil Nadu performed the rituals.
