Telangana deputy speaker T Padma Rao aims to make Secunderabad garbage-free zone, flags off ‘swachh auto tippers’

HYDERABAD: In order to facilitate better living conditions and healthy environment for the people of Secunderabad, Telangana deputy speaker T Padma Rao, on Monday, flagged off 11 'swachh auto tippers’ (SAT) at a programme held at Sitaphalmandi GHMC ward in Secunderabad.

These SAT vehicles will visit door to door and collect the garbage and other solid waste, across the Secunderabad Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) zone.

Hyderabad civic body sanctioned a total of 89 SAT vehicles and so far, 73 vehicles were allotted to Secunderabad Zone.

The remaining 16 SAT vehicles will be sanctioned soon, said a senior GHMC sanitation wing official.

Speaking on the occasion, Speaker said, “These vehicles will visit all by-lanes of the residential colonies in Secunderabad zone and collect the garbage. The aim is, to make ‘Secunderabad’ a garbage-free city on the lines of Hyderabad city.”

The Telangana government is "committed" to achieve Hyderabad City as one of the top cities in the country as a bin-free and garbage-free city.

As a result, the GHMC wing is procuring advanced garbage collection, transport and treatment systems.

Later, the deputy speaker handed over newly SAT vehicles’ keys to GHMC sanitation drivers.
