HYDERABAD: On a day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Hyderabad, Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao flew down to Bengaluru, breaching the protocol by not receiving him at the airport for the second time in the past three months.
In February, KCR had skipped meeting Modi when he had visited Hyderabad to unveil the statue of equalit. Rao had cited health reasons then.
Interestingly, the first citizen of Hyderabad and mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi too gave a miss to receive the PM. However, sources said that the mayor did not to go to the airport on the directions from the CMO. "As per the protocol, mayor should be third in the list, to receive the PM. But, her name was listed ninth after BJP MPs and MLAs, which is an insult to her post," sources close to mayor told TOI.
Meanwhile, governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav received the PM at Begumpet airport. Chief secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP M Mahender Reddy and collector L Sharman were present.
