HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party state unit has announced a massive agitation in the state, including filing of court cases, to protest chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s remarks that it was time to rewrite the Constitution.
“The CM’s remarks are anti-national and amount to sedition under the Constitution. We have decided to battle them legally,” former MLC N Ramchander Rao claimed while addressing the media after a meeting with Bharatiya Janata Party state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar and party legal cell.
In response to TRS pointing out that the BJP-led Union government had itself previously established a commission to review the Constitution, Rao stated that there was a difference between reviewing and demand to rewrite.
Rao stated that there was a constitutional mechanism in place to review it. “The chief minister is attempting to divert people’s attention away from serious issues in the state,” he claimed.
“After courts start functioning fully in physical mode, we will protest before all the courts demanding removal of the chief minister not the Constitution,” Rao said, adding that Bharatiya Janata Party will alsp fight all cases filed by the police against them.
