Telangana: 8 peacocks die after drinking water mixed with fertiliser in Warangal

WARANGAL: As many as eight peacocks died on Thursday night allegedly after drinking contaminated water at Devilal thanda in Parvathagiri mandal of Warangal district.

According to forest officials, the peacocks came to Devilal thanda to quench their thirst and consumed water mixed with fertiliser used for the paddy crop in the agricultural fields. The peacocks died on the spot.

The villagers who later noticed the dead peacocks alerted the local police and forest officials. Warangal forest range officer, M Sadandham, who visited the agricultural field for inspection, said that the peacocks’ samples have been sent for post-mortem and based on the post-mortem report the matter will be investigated further.
