Medchal: Two construction workers were killed and three injured after the scaffolding at a construction site caved in on Thursday, police said.
According to police, the labourers were working on an under-construction floor when scaffoldings used to climb to the top cracked under excessive weight and collapsed. The labourers, who were on the scaffolding at the time, fell from a steepling height as it caved in.
Two workers died at the scene and another three sustained grievous injuries in the incident, police said.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, the police said, adding that a case will be registered.
DCP Balanagar reached the spot after receiving word of the incident. Speaking to media persons, he said strict action will be taken against the culprits.
The injured were under treatment at the hospital, the DCP informed.
