Tehran residents flee as Israel-Iran conflict continues for fifth day

Long traffic queues were seen on roads heading north, with many residents in the capital reportedly trying to reach the Caspian Sea region. Petrol stations saw heavy demand, while shops and parts of the historic Grand Bazaar remained shuttered.

Israel’s air campaign on Tehran appeared to widen following strikes on Monday that hit Iran’s state broadcaster. Evacuation orders were issued for parts of the city, home to around 10 million people.

Trump's announcement came on the fifth day of hostilities between Iran and Israel, as both sides continue trading strikes in a conflict that shows no sign of slowing.
