Iran's Revolutionary Guards have confirmed a recent missile test, more than a week after Washington, Paris and London denounced the operation.

“We will continue our missile tests and this recent action was an important test,” Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the Revolutionary Guards’ airspace division, said, as quoted by Fars News.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo asserted earlier in December that Iran had test-fired a missile capable of carrying multiple warheads and reaching the Middle East and Europe.

Iran's missile test violates UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which prevents Iran from work on ballistic missiles designed to deliver nuclear weapons.

The US State Department condemned the test and warned if Iran was not deterred, it would cause further instability in the Middle East.
