Teens at posh Edinburgh school 'expelled' for 'taking ecstasy'

Teenage pupils at one of Scotland's top private schools were kicked out after taking drugs .

Top fee-paying school George Watson's College (GWC), in Edinburgh, confirmed that the S4 students, aged 15, would be leaving due to 'concerning behaviour' regarding drugs , reported to be ecstasy .

Cops were called in last week but decided no crime had been committed at the school, which counts Tory Party grandee Lord Rifkind and Sir Chris Hoy among its alumni.

Fees at the prestigious co-ed school are £4,390 per term.

The number of pupils being kicked out has not been revealed by the school.

Gordon Boyd, Head of Senior School at GWC , said: "We have recently become aware of concerning behaviour amongst some of our S4 pupils in relation to the use of illegal substances.

"Our code of conduct for all pupils is clear and we take any breach of these rules very seriously.

"Unfortunately, because of their actions, a small number of S4 pupils will shortly be leaving George Watson's College.

"We will not comment further on this in order to protect our pupils."

Police Scotland confirmed they were called in but no found no evidence of a crime being committed.
