Teens arrested as police raid homes searching for stolen electric bikes

Three teens were arrested after police raided a number of homes searching for stolen e-bikes.

The warrants were carried out in Everton and Kensington on Thursday, October 20, as part of an investigation into the suspected theft, handling and fraudulent selling of electric bikes believed to have been stolen from addresses in Wirral.

Three teens including a 15 and 16-year-old from Everton and a 17-year-old from Kensington were arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of pedal cycle. The 15-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and theft of motor vehicle.

The 16-year-old was also suspected of possessing an offensive weapon, a baton found during the warrant, and fraud by false representation. All three have been taken to police stations to be questioned.

Detective Sergeant Nick Glascott-Tull explains more: “The three males remain in custody, and we suspect that the bikes pictured may be stolen. As yet, our enquiries into known theft and burglary offences haven’t tracked down the owners, but these are in the early stages.

"If you have been a victim of such a crime, we want to hear from you, so we can verify ownership and hopefully get these bikes back to where they belong. Additionally, if you have been offered these bikes or seen them for sale online or elsewhere, we want to hear from you, to put those involved before the courts and also to protect innocent members of the public from unwittingly buying stolen goods.

"Always make sure you check the origin of such items where you can, including any identification numbers, security markings, and the legitimacy and online feedback of those attempting to sell them."

Anyone with information to identify these bikes can contact @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, with reference 22000384563.
