Teens allegedly steal car, kidnap driver at Melbourne car wash

Police have charged two boys, aged 16 and 17, over the carjacking.

Two teenage boys have been charged with kidnapping and carjacking a man as he washed his car at a service station in Melbourne's north.

Police said the 25-year-old man was washing his black Mitsubishi Lancer on Dalton Road in Thomastown when he was approached by two boys, aged 16 and 17, about 11:30pm on Wednesday.

Police alleged the boys were armed and threatened the Lalor man before forcing him into his car and driving off with him inside.

They stopped at an intersection nearby where they assaulted the man and threw him out of the stationary vehicle, police said.

The man suffered minor injuries to his face and walked to a nearby fast food restaurant, where he called police.

The pair fled in the victim's vehicle and were found by police on Thursday morning at a shopping centre in Dandenong, about 50 kilometres away.

Both boys have been charged with aggravated carjacking, false imprisonment and kidnapping and were remanded to appear at a children's court at a later date.
