Teenagers throwing eggs at shop keepers and cars

Children congregating in a subway have been throwing eggs at shopkeepers and passing traffic, police have said.

The boys and girls have been gathering in a subway off Rimmer Avenue in the Roby area of Huyton.

Police have said the group of youths have been throwing eggs at passing cars in the area. The same group are also said to have thrown eggs at shops and cars in the Pilch Lane area of Huyton.

A number of youths have been detained in relation to the disorder, police have said.

Police shared a statement on social media which read: "We have been receiving numerous reports regarding a group of youths, both males and females, throwing eggs from the subway area near to Rimmer Avenue, Roby into moving traffic. We have also received reports of youths throwing eggs and other items at shops on Pilch Lane / Childwall Lane and also at passing traffic in the area. We believe they are the same group of youths.

"Officers have attended the locations numerous times throughout the past few days, providing hi-visibility policing and also trying to detain offenders in relation to the matters. A number of youths' have been detained and further enquiries are ongoing to establish if they are involved in the incidents.

"If you suspect your child may be involved, or is known to hang around in these areas, please have words with them and explain the dangers and consequences of throwing items at moving traffic and shops. It is a criminal offence and they face the risk of receiving a criminal conviction.
