Teenagers charged after boy, 16, robbed at knifepoint in park

Two teenagers have been charged after a boy, 16, was threatened and robbed at knifepoint in a Merseyside park.

The incident happened at Thatto Heath Park in St Helens at around 8.45pm on Saturday, February 8 last year, when the victim had his mobile phone and cash taken by two people, one of whom made threats with a knife.

Merseyside police confirmed the victim was unhurt, but left distressed.

At the time, the ECHO reported that following enquiries, a 15-year-old boy from Manchester and a 16-year-old boy from St Helens were located and arrested on suspicion of robbery and interviewed.

Today the force confirmed that two teens, Zaine Hylton, 18 and a 16-year-old from Manchester have now been charged and will appear at Merseyside Youth Bail Court early next week.

In a statement today, Merseyside Police said: "Detectives investigating the robbery of a 16-year-old boy in Thatto Heath Park earlier last year have charged two teenagers in connection with the offence.

"At around 8.45pm on Saturday, February 8, 2020, the victim had his mobile phone and cash taken by two offenders, one of whom made threats with a knife. The victim was unhurt but left distressed.

"Following enquiries, two teenagers were located later that month, arrested on suspicion of robbery and interviewed.

"They have now both been charged with robbery."
