TWO teenagers have been charged after an armed robbery at a Rutherford service station.
Police said a 26-year-old employee and 32-year-old customer were inside the New England Highway service station about 10.30pm on Sunday.
Two people entered the store.
Investigators will allege in court that a man threatened the employee with a knife, demanding cash from him.
A female allegedly threatened the customer, demanding her cash and credit cards, before both the alleged thieves fled on foot a short time later.
Port Stephens-Hunter police were informed. On their way to the scene they saw what police described as a man and woman crossing the New England Highway.
Officers attempted to stop the pair, who allegedly ran from officers. A short foot pursuit led to their arrest on Queen Street.
The pair, a 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, were taken to Maitland Police Station.
The older teen was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon while the 13-year-old was also charged with demand property with menaces with intent to steal.
Both were refused bail to face children's court.
