Teenagers as young as 13 being recruited by Dublin's 'Gucci Gang' to sell drugs

Teenagers as young as 13 are being recruited by the ruthless Gucci Gang crime lords to sell drugs.

According to top cops in Finglas and Blanchardstown in Dublin where the gang operate, they are manipulating kids to get involved to do their dirty work.

In episode two of The Guards: Inside The K, to be aired on Wednesday, viewers will see properties raided for drugs.

And Garda Sean Kelly believes the ages of those involved with the Gucci Gang – named for their designer clothing – is younger than ever.

He said: “They are very young now – you have 13, 14, 15-year-olds doing jobs for them.

“They buy their flashy runners and flashy coats, Canada Goose, new Gucci belts for €200.

“I know what you are doing now because you’re doing this. They are driving a Merc – what are you doing now for a living? And they say, ‘I don’t work’.

“I already know I need to start looking at you.”

Meanwhile, Garda Richard Finan said kids are being lured by the money.

He added: “They are seeing they are getting caught with drugs and are not getting locked-up. What’s to stop them?”

In the same episode, Sergeant Selina Proudfoot warned drug dealing through social media has spiralled out of control.

She added: “We are just in the era that social media is so prevalent and they use it successfully too.”

  • The Guards: Inside The K is on Virgin Media on Wednesday at 9pm.
