Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of hurling racist abuse during a Black Lives Matter protest.
A 19-year-old and a 14-year-old allegedly made the remarks during a demonstration in Haverfordwest.
The pair – who have not been named – were taken into custody on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences.
Dyfed-Powys Police said the incident had caused “upset and distress”.
Around 70 people attended the peaceful anti-racism demonstration at the town’s Picton Fields on Wednesday.
Superintendent Ross Evans said: “Sadly, officers present observed a man and a boy shouting a number of racist comments towards those attending the demonstration, and promptly arrested both, one aged 19 and the other 14, on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences.
“The comments understandably caused a great deal of upset and distress to those from the demonstration who heard them.
“The two men arrested have been taken to Haverfordwest custody, where they remain currently.”
In June, Haverfordwest Town Council was forced to clarify that the name of a park, as well as nearby Picton Castle and Picton Centre, is unrelated to 19th-century slave owner Sir Thomas Picton, following calls to remove monuments commemorating him.
