Teenagers are planning fights in Welsh towns this weekend

Gangs of teenagers have been arranging to meet and fight in towns over the next weekend, police have warned.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said they have been made aware that groups of teens from Newtown and Welshpool areas, in Powys , planned the meet ups for the upcoming weekend.

They have received the information from a "number of sources."

Police are working with schools in the area to help prevent the meet ups from happening and added that letters would be sent out to parents.

Newtown Inspector, Matthew Price, said: "This information has come to us from a number of sources, and is really concerning to hear.

"We ant to warn those involved that we know their plans, and violent behaviour won't be tolerated.

"We will deal with any offences committed."
