Teenager who sent van flying through the air handed driving ban

A teenager has been banned from driving after he launched a van through the air 'Dukes of Hazzard-style'.

Ryan Lamb was behind the wheel of a Citroen Berlingo van when he drove straight across a roundabout at high speed.

The vehicle was launched into the air on the A11 at Attleborough.

Lamb, 18, was found guilty of dangerous driving at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Friday.

The teenager, who was 17 at the time of the accident, had previously denied driving a motor vehicle dangerously.

Lamb, from Suffolk, was disqualified from driving or obtaining a license for 12 months, was ordered to do an extended retest, pay £310 to the CPS costs, complete 80 hours' unpaid work and pay £85 victim surcharge,  reports the Indepedent .

Motorcyclist Andy Daynes, 35, said he caught the footage on his helmet cam while driving behind the van on the A11 earlier this year.

Andy, of Hingham, Norwich said: "I was actually on my motorbike behind him so I saw it all.

"I pulled over along with some other drivers to see if he was okay.

"He had to be cut out of the van - but he seemed to be alright, he wasn't badly injured.

"It is quite a bad roundabout, he just didn't see what was coming because he was going so fast.

"He was on his own, he had a few cuts and bruises but the ambulance came straight away and took him to hospital.

Lamb, who was 17 at the time of the dramatic crash, was on his way to Sundown music festival at the time.

He had two passengers with him at the time, the court heard. Miraculously only minor injuries were sustained.
