A vile and violent teenager has managed to avoid jail after brutally punching a girl 25 times and declaring he "wouldn't stop until she was dead".
Kyle Lye's victim managed to hail down a passing van to make an escape from the thug's clutches.
As he stood in the dock on July 28, a magistrate uttered to him "we all make mistakes".
According to Manchester Evening News, the 19-year-old appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court after admitting to assault which caused bodily harm.
Prosecutor for the case, Jonathan Wilkinson, outlined the details of the event which unfolded telling the court how Lye "punched her to the ground, kicked her and punched her body approximately 25 times as she was curled on the floor".
He continued: "He said he wouldn't stop until she's dead."
When the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, managed to run away, Lye continued the attack and "punched her again to the face and stomach".
She finally got away after stopping a van driver for help.
He said there was "no real visible injury" to which Chair Magistrate S. Wood asked, "are they just pretend kicks?"
Mr Wilkinson confirmed the hits "made contact" but said there was "no bruising".
He confirmed the girl said: "I feel really sore at the top of my backside and lower back."
She also said her cheekbone was "sore, red and swollen" where he "punched and stamped on me".
Defending, Anna Duke said Lye made "full and frank admissions" in a police interview and had no previous convictions. She said for somebody so young he had "quite a lot of responsibility" including a young daughter.
A pre-sentence report outlined a "realistic prospect of rehabilitation".
Ms Duke said one of the probation programmes would address "why this young man lost his temper" and said any custodial term would be very short and would not provide the support he needed.
She said: "If he were to go to custody any problems he has now would only be exacerbated."
Sentencing, Magistrate Wood said: "As you're aware you could be going to prison today.
"We do feel the custody threshold has been passed, however we're going to suspend any sentence for 12 months."
Lye, of Finch Lane, Knotty Ash, was handed 20 weeks suspended for one year and must complete 10 hours of Rehabilitation Activity Requirements and 120 hours of unpaid work.
He must also complete a Building Better Relationships Programme, which Magistrate Wood said was "fundamental" to Lye's rehabilitation.
Magistrate Wood said: "You don't want to go to prison at your age I don't think."
Lye must also pay his victim £300 in compensation and £85 in court costs.
Before he was released from the dock Magistrate Wood told Lye: "We all make mistakes, it's a question of controlling your emotions."
