A teenage boy woke up from a coma speaking fluent Spanish after suffering a concussion during a football match, according to reports.
Goalkeeper Reuben Nsemoh, 16, was accidentally hit on the head by another player during a scramble in the penalty box.
Reuben's coach Bruno Kalonji told WSB-TV the teenager stopped breathing several times after the blow.
He added: "He will start coming back, then he will throw up. It was a sequence of things I’ve never seen, it was bad."
When the Georgia teenager woke up, he could no longer speak English but was fluent in Spanish - something he was previously unable to do, Pix11 reports.
However, after the days passed, his ability to speak English returned while his grasp of Spanish waned.
Reuben thinks he may have subconsciously remembered conversations with his brother and friends who are fluent.
Reuben, who has suffered three concussions is now recovering at home. He still hopes to become a professional football player.
Coach Kalonji said he will only let Reuben back on the pitch if he wears protective headgear.
