Teenager tragically dies after horror three-car smash on A9 as probe launched

A teenage woman has died following a horror car crash on a major Scots road.

The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the three-vehicle collision on the A9 at Birnam around 4.50pm on Monday August 2.

She was driving a blue Hyundai i10 when it was smashed into another car, a grey Volkswagen Golf.

The road had been closed with local diversions in place as a result of the incident, according to Police Scotland.

Officers are now appealing for information and are asking anyone with dash-cam footage to get in touch.

Road Policing Constable Scott Power said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the woman who sadly lost her life.

“A full investigation into the cause of the crash is underway as it is vital that we piece together what happened.

"I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have seen the vehicles on the road shortly before to come forward.

"We would also like to hear from you if you have dash-cam footage, you may have captured something that could assist our enquiries.

"The road is currently closed to traffic with local diversions in place and I would like thank motorists for their patience while we carry out enquiries into the crash.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2469 of Monday, 2 August, 2021.”
