Teenager throws 'machete' over fence after hitting dead end

A 'machete' was recovered by officers who chased after an 18-year-old in Wirral.

He ran off after being stopped by officers in Craven Street, Birkenhead, yesterday.

The teen then tried to get rid of the weapon by throwing it over a nearby fence and was later arrested.

Wirral Police posted about the incident on its Facebook page, saying: "Yesterday we arrested an 18-year-old in Birkenhead for possession of a bladed article.

"The man was stop searched on Craven Street before running off.

"Fortunately for us, he ended up running into a dead end! He tried to throw a machete over a nearby fence but officers found it and arrested the man."
