Teenager 'threatened to stab child' demanding bag and cash at knifepoint in shopping centre

A teenager threatened to stab a child at a shopping centre as he demanded his bag and cash at knifepoint.

Police have issued CCTV images of a youth who may possess information about the ordeal after the victim was confronted in a city centre mall by a teen on August 5.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident at Bullring & Grand Central shopping centre in Birmingham last month, reports Birmingham Live.

However, police are also keen to speak to a youth pictured on CCTV, who was wearing a large silver medallion.

In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "The victim ran off to the aid of a passer-by and the offender, who was with another teenager, made off from the scene.

"We’ve arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with the incident but really need to identify this lad.

"It happened on August 5 at around 5.20pm.

"If you believe you recognise the lad, who appears to be wearing a large silver medallion, please do the right thing and get in touch."

You can message police on Live Chat through its website or call 101. Police say they don’t need your name, they just need the suspect’s name.

Or you can call the charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111. Please quote crime number 20/25687/21.
