Teenager taken to hospital with face, neck and hand injuries following assault in Rochdale

A teenager is in hospital with face, neck and hand injuries following an assault in Rochdale.

Police were called to reports of an attack in Stevenson Square, in Smallbridge.

Officers arrived to the scene at around 6.15pm on Sunday, July 19.

A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital following the incident.

Police have not released any further details regarding his condition.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault.

The men, aged 19 and 20, remain in police custody for questioning.

Witnesses described seeing a large emergency services response following the incident.

An air ambulance could also be seen landing close to the scene.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 6.15pm on Sunday, July 19, 2020, police were called to reports of an assault on Stevenson Square, Rochdale.

"Officers attended.

"A 19-year-old man was taken to hospital with face, neck and hand injuries."
