Teenager taken to hospital following mountain rescue incident

A teenager was taken to hospital over the weekend after an incident involving a mountain rescue crew and helicopter on a mountain near New Tredegar.

A mountain rescue team attended the incident between New Tredegar and Abertysswg on Saturday evening after a teenager was injured.

Crews from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Gwent Police also attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police confirmed that officers were called by paramedics after a teenager who sustained a leg injury was rescued by a mountain rescue team.

The spokesperson confirmed that after the incident, which occurred at approximately 6.20pm on Saturday, paramedics attended the scene and treated the teenager.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We were called at approximately 6pm on Saturday, February 27 to reports that a person had sustained an injury on a mountainside in New Tredegar.

"We sent an emergency ambulance to the scene, and one person was taken to Prince Charles Hospital."

Tweeting after the incident, Gwent Police Caerphilly Officers' account said that community officers were on the scene to assist colleagues with an injured person.

They added that four community support officers were present, alongside an ambulance crew, a mountain rescue team and a rescue helicopter crew.
