Teenager taken to hospital after two-car crash on A76 in East Ayrshire

A teenager has been taken to hospital following a two-car crash on the A76 in East Ayrshire this morning.

The incident took place between Crosshands and Mauchline around 7.25am.

There was disruption for motorists who were using the key route which was partially blocked in both directions.

Traffic Scotland warned drivers that they were able to pass the scene but to take extra care when doing so.

And the organisation later confirmed the road was clear just after 9.45am.

Police Scotland confirmed that a 19-year-old woman had been transferred to Kilmarnock's Crosshouse Hospital as they bid to establish exactly what happened.

A statement read: "Officers were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash on the A76 between Mauchline and Kilmarnock around 7.25am on Thursday, January 6.

"A 19-year-old woman was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock and enquiries are continuing."
