Teenager suffers 'nasty injuries' after reports of assault in Hoveringham

A teenager was left with a broken nose and eye socket after reportedly being assaulted on the way back from visiting a friend in Hoveringham.

Nottinghamshire Police says he was riding his bike back from a friend's house towards Hoveringham Lake, off Gonalston Lane, when the incident occurred.

The force says he had been out between 2.45pm and 5.45pm on June 13, and while unclear what happened in this time, the teenager arrived home confused and with significant injuries.

Upon arriving home he was taken to hospital, after calling the police, where it was found he had a broken nose and eye socket, broken teeth and a concussion.

Investigators are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Constable Gemma Patterson said: “A teenager suffered really nasty injuries, which thankfully he is in the process of recovering from.

“He was left shaken and confused as well as having these injuries. We understand how profound the impact of such incidents can be both short term and long term and we are determined to find out who is responsible for this attack.

“Our officers are tirelessly pursuing various lines of enquiry as we work to understand the circumstances of what happened.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area during this three-hour time frame – if you saw the incident or have any information, please get in touch on 101, quoting incident 649 of 13 June 2021.
