Teenager suffers 'life-threatening' injuries in reservoir horror crash

A teenage boy is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a horrific crash near a reservoir.

The 17-year-old was driving a silver Suzuki Swift when he came off the tarmac on Chorley Road, in Standish, Wigan, and ended up in a field close to Arley Reservoir.

The crash happened at 7pm yesterday (Thursday) and the youngster was rushed to hospital where he is currently being treated.

Police have since appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward with information.

PC Simon Venguedasalon of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the driver and his family while he remains in hospital.

“We’re keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision or captured dash cam footage that can assist our investigation.

“If you can help, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting log 2332 of 04/06/2020.

Alternatively, information can be left with the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
