Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were left speechless as a boy dropped a four-letter clanger during their visit to the Bristol Old Vic yesterday.

The royals were being shown around the historic theatre when they were being spoken to by a young lad who blurted out: "You can't just be f***ing around on stage" while talking about acting.

Stunned Meghan let out a brief laugh and Harry put his hands on his knees in shock at the youngster's choice phrase.

The teenager carried on talking and the royals quickly regained their composure.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were visiting a snow covered Bristol for a day of royal engagements.

Harry and Megan were there to tour the Bristol Old Vic theatre, which is undergoing a multimillion-pound restoration, and travel to the Empire Fighting Chance, a charity using boxing to support children failing at school.

It is Meghan's third royal engagement in just three days. The Duchess, who is set to give birth in April, wore her hair loose with a dark coat and green boots with a matching bag.

Well-wishers braved the chilly conditions to greet the royal couple.

The Bristol Old Vic was built in 1766 and has a unique place in British theatre history, having nurtured the talents of countless famous actors from Daniel Day-Lewis and Greta Scacchi to Peter O'Toole and Jeremy Irons.

Stirling Prize-winning architects Haworth Tompkins led the theatre's redesign, which includes a full-height timber and glass-fronted foyer that reveals the original auditorium facade to the street for the first time.

The project is the second stage of a 10-year, £26 million programme to completely overhaul and safeguard the future of the theatre.

During the visit, the duke and duchess will dropped in on a workshop attended by local schoolchildren, part of Bristol Old Vic's outreach programme.
