Teenager still in critical condition months after Bristol crash

A 19-year-old man remains in a critical condition more than two months after a crash in Henbury.

He was injured when a green BMW R800 motorbike and orange Ford Fiesta collided at the junction of Hallen Road and Avonmouth Way.

Two people were riding the motorbike at the time of the crash, just before 6.50pm on Friday, July 17.

One, the 19-year-old, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An Avon and Somerset police spokeswoman has now said: "He is critical and stable in hospital."

The other person on the bike, a 15-year-old boy, was released from hospital after treatment. No-one else was hurt.

Police closed Hallen Road until the following day for collision investigators to examine the scene and the vehicles to be recovered.

The force spokeswoman said: "There have been no arrests, the investigation continues and if anyone has any information about the collision which they have yet to pass on we would welcome them calling 101 quoting reference 5220159025."

Hallen Road and nearby Henbury Road have seen a spate of crashes in recent years. One man's house has been hit by cars three times.

Last month Bristol City Council pledged to speed up work to address "clear safety concerns" in the area, after Bristol Live revealed there have been at least 11 recent crashes there.

Police are set to increase the presence of speed camera vans on Kings Weston Road because of the concerns, as we reported yesterday (October 6).

A total of 155 people have signed our petition calling for speed-calming measures around the junction of Hallen Road, Henbury Road and Kings Weston Road.
