Teenager still fighting for life in hospital after crash with black cab

A 19-year-old man is still in hospital fighting for his life after a crash in Knotty Ash on Saturday.

The teenager was riding a private e-scooter on East Prescot Road when he was involved in a crash with a black Hackney cab at around 11pm.

Emergency services rushed to the scene near to the junction with Blackmoor Drive.

The rider of the e-scooter was taken to hospital after suffering from a serious head injury, where his condition was described as critical.

In an update today, April 26, Merseyside Police confirmed that the man remains in hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the cab was uninjured and stopped at the scene to assist police.

Road closures were put in place after the crash on Saturday and officers have spoken to witnesses.

It is one of two crashes to have happened on East Prescot Road in the last two days.

In the early hours of Monday morning, police were called to a separate crash involving a BMW colliding with a roundabout, close to the Greyhound Pub.

A man and a woman in their 20s, and a man in his 30s, were taken to hospital where they sadly died.

East Prescot Road was closed on all approaches to the roundabout including Blackmoor Drive, Pilch Lane and Brookside Avenue. It has now reopened.
