A teenage boy has been stabbed to death in east London.

Officers were called to reports of a fight in Stratford on Tuesday evening, Scotland Yard said.

Police and paramedics found the boy with stab injuries and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

It was the capital’s 93rd murder this year.

Detectives have opened an investigation and a post-mortem examination and formal identification are scheduled to take place, London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

The death is the latest in a spate of teenage murders in the capital.

Days before the most recent killing, an 18-year-old died from injuries sustained when he was stabbed in nearby Plaistow.

Eighteen-year-old Amrou Greenidge also died in hospital last month, after he was deliberately knocked off his bike by a vehicle in Fulham and attacked as he lay on the ground.

Solomon Small, 18, was knifed to death in Brixton on 15 August and three days earlier Alex Smith, 16, died after being repeatedly stabbed with a machete in Munster Square, Camden.

Anyone with information on the Stratford murder is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
