Teenager stabbed near Ayrshire street where young man was killed 24 hours later

Ayrshire police are appealing for information on a stabbing in Ayrshire at the weekend — which happened close to the street that a man was found dead.

Officers insist the incidents are unrelated after happening just 24 hours apart in Dalry.

At around 8.20pm on Saturday night, a 17-year-old man was with a friend walking along Peden Avenue near to St Margaret's Avenue, when he became involved in an altercation with another man which resulted in him being stabbed.

He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he was treated and has since been discharged.

The suspect is described as white, 6ft in height, of large build and has blond hair.

Detective Constable Ross Keenan said: "Peden Avenue at St Margaret's Avenue is residential and I am sure people there, especially at this time of the night, would have either seen or heard the attack.

"If you have any information you feel may assist officers with their enquiries, please call Saltcoats Police Station via 101 quoting reference number 3322 of Saturday, October 9, 2021. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted in confidence on 0800 555 111.

"This incident is not connected to the death of the man on St Margaret's Avenue, Dalry, Ayrshire, on Sunday, October 10."
