Teenager stabbed in the back by thugs on bikes

A teenager was stabbed in the back in broad daylight by two thugs on bikes.

The 18-year-old victim was attacked on Twig Lane in Huyton at around 4.30pm just minutes before emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing .

It is believed that the teen was approached by the two males on bikes before being stabbed in the back .

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital for further attention.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Detectives are investigating after a male was stabbed in Huyton this afternoon, Friday 26 April.

"At around 4.30pm, emergency services were called to Twig Lane following reports of an 18-year-old male being approached by two males on pedal cycles and stabbed, resulting in a minor laceration to his back, which was treated at the scene by the ambulance service.

"He was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.

"The suspects made off towards the Bakers Green area prior to police attendance.

"They are described as being white males, aged around 16-17, and wearing dark clothing."

CCTV enquiries are ongoing in the area and detectives are appealing to any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Chris Burrows said: “The circumstances surrounding this incident are unclear at this time and we will be continuing to speak to people locally.

“We are keeping an open mind on why this happened so I would ask anyone who was in the area of Twig Lane and either saw the incident itself or anyone running off to check their home CCTV, dashcam and tell us what they know.

“We all understand the concern that knife crime and other violence causes, but with your information we can keep making arrests, seizing weapons, and educating people on the risks of carrying weapons, to themselves and others. Tell what you know directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers and we will take action.”
