Teenager stabbed in head at Lancashire park

A teenager was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the head at a Lancashire park.

Police are appealing for information after the 17-year-old was attacked by a group of men shortly 5pm on Monday (July 6).

Officers were called to Aveham Park in Preston to reports of a stabbing, Lancashire Live reports.

The teenager suffered an injury to his his head and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital. He was later being discharged.

His attacker is believed to be part of a group of four males who escaped the scene in a black car, police say.

An area of the park was cordoned off while police enquiries took place.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at around 5.15pm on Monday, July 6th, to the report that a teenager had been stabbed in Avenham Park, Preston close to the old Tram Bridge.

"The victim, 17, received an injury to his head and was taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital. His injury was not serious and he has now been discharged from hospital.

"It is believed that the offender was part of a group of four males who made off from the area in a black car. They are currently being sought by police."
